Scope

To develop and maintain the XA-, XRF-, DX-, CR-specific objects for the DICOM Standard in the domains of 2D and 3D X-Ray imaging (general radiography, angiography, cardiology, neuro-radiology, radio-fluoroscopy, electrophysiology, interventional oncology etc.), technical reports, dose information and clinical information, related to the patient and medical staff of interventional procedures or general X-Ray procedures.

Roadmap

  • There is a desire to foster implementations of RDSR in products, in particular for Digital Radiography (DR), which reveals a need for better awareness and technical guidance to vendors. We expect to answer to this need by providing the new supplement 245 Informative Annex of Radiation Dose Reporting (RDSR) Use Cases.
  • WG-02 foresees an opportunity to expand the family of Protocol Storage IODs with a future supplement for “DX/RF Protocol Storage”.
  • WG-02 ensures liaison with other groups and organizations like IEC, MITA X-Ray Interventional, AAPM, EFOMP, and IHE.

Current Supplements, Work and Objectives

  • Collaborate with WG-28 on Supplement 245 Radiation Dose SR Informative Annex.
  • Work on a future supplement for DX/RF Protocol Storage, based on Work Item 2022-12-A DX and RF Modality Protocol Storage.
  • Work on current and new CPs related to X-Ray Projection IODs and RDSR.

Future Work Items

  • N/A.

    Challenges and Opportunities

    • Encourage clinical users to participate to the group in finding solutions and/or validating proposed solutions.
    • In the Interventional lab environment already various non-image data exist and need to be exchanged to assure flow of information (some exchanges are required during the procedure). The different departments are increasingly switching to digital communication and rely on implementation of Standards.
